Due to the weather there was not a lot to see snorkeling and when we got to the stingrays only 1 was present. The guide had to swim out to catch it and I felt it was more cruel than a natural experience.
FYI - most people spent some time in Margarita ville which was packed, over 200 people actually got food poisoning from the ice so beware. We ate at Jacks Shack at the end of the beach with great food and drinks at half the price.
We docked at lunchtime and stayed until midnight which was a first for us. We spent the day shopping and visiting the town as we have done in the past. Its in the evening when the port comes to live. We stayed out all night with live music and dancing on the see front whilst having dinner in a local restaurant.
Having visited St T so many times we opted for a scenic drive around St John. The island was beautiful and was good to experience new beaches and sights. It is sadly just a tour around the island and would have liked to experience more local culture.
We walked out of the cruise terminal to find a local tour and found Boots. We paid $20 for a 3 hour island tour which I can't stress how amazing the experience was. Not only did we tour the whole island we stopped at local villages for food and drinks, rum factories for sampling and also the beautiful beaches. This is a must, avoid the cruise tours go local.
