Two must see attractions: Christ statue and SugarLoaf mountain. However, the city itself suffers from congested highways and graffiti everywhere you look. Didn't make it to the beaches...a miss. City has a way to go to host coming Olympics and World Cup events.
Wonderful European type city, likened to Paris. We used services of a local concierge to get around using a private van. Knowledge of Spanish is highly preferable if you are on your own. Didn't experience any theft or fake money issues, probably due to our being with a local guide. Guide experience was mixed, with problems booking mistakes for transportation to the airport, causing almost to miss our international flight to Miami. Public cabs are plentiful and trusting. Watch out for the sidewalks all over...in need of maintenance. Missed seeing the Tigre River boat excursion which is recommended. Had sense that prices for goods here are not as high as expected, especially for leather bags.
