Our family loved Roatan!! Thrilled we chose to do the dolphin encounter excursion in Roatan at Anthony's Key. This excursion was OUTSTANDING & worth every dime! We were put into groups of 9 and had a dolphin, Maury, to ourselves. For about 45 minutes we spent time with Maury as the dolphin trainer explained everything you could ever want to know about dolphins. He was so friendly & knowledgeable, as was Maury. Anthony's Key is a beautiful resort & gorgeous location to have this excursion. Absolutely wonderful time!!
We chose to do the Beach Break at Bannister Island. This was beautiful and private, no vendors on beach. We enjoyed using the complimentary kayaks and lounge chairs. Had a fun time, but my kids didn't need 4 hours. After the tender ride back to the ship, we still had time to take a different tender into the Belize city. This was interesting, we just walked around & looked in some shops. Glad we stepped foot in the actual mainland country.
We chose the Chacchoben Mayan ruins excursion. Great time! We met our tour guide, Elizabeth at the pier, and boarded an air conditioned bus, for an hour ride into countryside. Elizabeth was awesome, very knowledgeable and informative along the ride there, at the ruins site itself and even on way back. She provided many interesting facts, was so friendly and made this tour memorable. Our kids learned a lot more then we expected them to. The Chacchoben ruins were beautiful, and we were glad we chose to take the kids to see them in Costa Maya.
We did not book any shore excursions here. Decided the kids would have fun just walking thru the mall at the pier & along the boardwalk. We went into some shops & bought a few souvenirs along the way. A highlight for our family was the Mega grocery store. Our friends laughed, but we enjoyed walking the aisles in air conditioning looking at the different products they sold. The kids picked out some neat candy and we bought bottles of water for 10 cents. We decided to eat lunch at Senor Frogs. We had great time.
