It was a really hot day (at least for Minnesotans). We took a taxi to the walled city. It was very educational and beautiful with flowers everywhere. We ate a light lunch at La Victrole - a fancy restaurant with AC. Food was good but not as good as on the ship.
On the way to town we took a shuttle out to where the taxi's were. But on the way back to the ship we expected a shuttle again and there wasn't one. Plan extra time to walk back to the ship.
We didn't really see much in Aruba beyond the Grande Parade for Carnival. That was special though so we will just have to visit Aruba again to see the rest.
What a beautiful city and island. We took a van tour that we found just after leaving the ship. Our guide Ruth was excellent - very well informed and easy to understand. My favorite thing was the colorful buildings.
We took a Bernard's tour. Our guide was Timo and we really liked him! He made sure we were at Malo Bay Beach to see a large jet take off and another one land. That is really an experience not to miss. The tour included beverages which was great. The whole day there was a lot of fun.
We took an open seated truck tour that we found after leaving the ship. It was very good. We got dropped at Magen's Beach for the afternoon and LOVED it. The water was so clear and warm we all went for a long swim. The same truck tour company arranged for a ride back to ship for us. We avoided the shopping area - which is the main reason many go there.
