Got off the ship in Cozumel and found our way to the taxi stand through all the "port vendors". Had a wonderful cab driver take us to Paradise Beach. About a ten minute drive and costs $14. Let me just say, Paradise is a good name for the Beach. .just beautiful. There's a beautiful pool there also that you can use. When you get to the beach (we got there about 9:00 and they were still cleaning the beach) just find a chair where you want to sit. They will eventually come around to you and you have to pay $2 each and will put a bracelet on you. You also have to spend a minimum of $10 for food or drink. We had a chicken wrap and nachos which were yummy and of course had to have an umbrella drink!! No problem catching a cab back to the ship. There is another area of good shopping in Cozumel, but you have to take a cab there, also, and we were just happy to be on the beautiful beach.
You have to take a tender to the get to the island. We were able to secure numbers to get on the first tender. If you don't get a number you may have to wait awhile. We did the Stingray City and it was a blast. We went on Moby Dick Tours with Mark and couldn't have been better. We met him at the dock and took us by a bus to his boat. Once on board it is about a half hour ride out in the ocean to get to the sandbar where the stingrays are. We got to snorkel for a little bit then were able to feed and hold the stingrays as they swam around us. It was a lot of fun and so happy with the excursion we picked.
This is a newer port and it really is nice sailing into it. The ship docks right by the shops and very convenient to get on and off the boat. The shops/buildings at the port are very nice and it was good to get off and shop around a bit, but really not much to do. We didn't take any excursions, so it was one of those days where we got off the ship for awhile and then just got back on and hit the pool, which wasn't very crowded which is nice.
I wasn't sure what to expect here, but my expectations were far exceeded. Just sailing into it, I was like this has to be one of the most beautiful spots on earth!! Nice dock and not too far of a walk. There are a number of beaches to choose from. We chose Columbus Cove, which was the farthest beach to walk to (10-15 minutes). It was beautiful, very still water and very clean. The cruise line sponsors a picnic on the island which was pretty good. They had many excursions, but we were content just to lounge on this beautiful beach. I would have been happy to spend a couple days there!!
