We had an excursion planned, but it was cancelled due to rough water. We were docked at the Puerta Maya pier, and Carnival has done a really good job making this pier a safe place for cruisers. Right off the ship there is a free beach area with free loungers, bars, shopping, etc. If you leave this area, it does get a bit seedy.
