some traveller shops (Souvenirs) and such. A bit of a rough area when outside the ports. Lots of local people offering taxi rides and tours. Went on the Gubalimba trip which was okay. Our tour guide was great and explained the history of the island etc. There were some really corny attractions at the park though including a man made cave which looks totally ridiculous and an insect museum, which simply includes insects tacked to boards. The parrots and moneys were neat though.
My mom and I went snorkelling in Belize (Norwegian shore excursion) which was a lot of fun. The reefs were beautiful. The area near the port was very touristy (same sort of shops in all of the ports)
Very touristy again - lots of the same shops, but a very nice port overall. They sold beer for $1 at one of the stores which my dad was very pleased about! We took a taxi drive around the island and our driver was great. He told us about the history and culture and took us to some interesting and not over-touristy places. Cost for 2.5 hour taxi ride with driver commentary was only $70.
