The snorkeling was average for the Caribbean. The downtown has been taken over by the usual high end tourist shops and has lost any character. We were disappointed.
This was the best snorkeling in the Caribbean. There is a small island that is a protected marine reserve. Visiting there is well worth the experience.
No shore excursion here. The port retains most of it's local color as there is limited tourist development. Be sure to take the steep walk to the fort overlooking the port for wonderful views.
Beautiful beach but a bit rocky. Plenty of services available at the beach for food, drinks and rentals. The sea was a bit rough the day we were there but it still was a relaxing experience. The port is a blend of colonial color and tourist development.
This island has so much to see. We took an extended excursion that we booked off the ship which combined sailing, snorkeling, and trips to a steaming volcano and beautiful botanical garden. Well worth it!
Very crowded but much to do here. Visit the French side of this island for a more relaxed experience. Also for a wild experience, go to the beach by there airport and watch the planes land. They come in so low that you feel like you could touch them. Good snorkeling and the best shopping in the Caribbean.
