I am one of those people who really appreciates the ports that the Cruise Lines have built. This one is no exception. There is a beautiful beach within walking distance, or you can take the chairlift there. Either way, it is just a few minutes from the ship. Plenty of shopping and restaurant/bar choices as well.
One time we did the Tabyana Beach and Lunch Excursion and highly recommend it. One is able to snorkel from either area, which is really nice. I heard that the ziplining was great also, although it wasn't offered by Princess.
I gave this port a three because you do have to tender. Love the one restaurant on the water. They always have great entertainment. There is plenty of shopping in this port, and if you step beyond the walled area, there are local merchants along the street selling products made in Belize.
We took the Trolley Tour of the city and really enjoyed it. It would be tough to do this tour if it had been any hotter out, but we learned so much about Belize and Belize City that it was very enjoyable.
This was my umpteenth time to Cozumel and I love the new port that has been built by Carnival. It is very well done with a number of stores and restaurants/bars. There is even an Internet cafe and an excellent local arts and crafts market with great shopping for locally made/grown items.
Really, the only negative is that there is only a very small beach set up. They did the best that they could within the space, but one still has to take a taxi ride to reach a really large beach. On the positive side, there are massages offered on the small beach in port.
