I gave this a 3 to be neutral... this is our 3rd time at San Juan... this time we stayed on the ship and didn't get off. If you've never been I would recommend walking around town or going to the forts, but once you've seen it once... not a lot to see.
Love this island. The first time we went we rented 4 wheelers and on our own toured the island. Highly recommend. The second time we spend the day going in and out of shops. We usually buy our Liquor here. This trip we visited our favorite Liquor Store (where they will go down $1-$2 dollars a bottle) and our favorite Jewelry Store (bought a diamond pendant)... would highly recommend it "Grand Jewelers".
So we love St Thomas!!! We have friends there so we always meet up with them to go where the locals go. Not before stopping at our favorite jewelry store here (Same family owned store as in St Maarten)..."Grand Jewelers"...this time the hubby got a new wedding ring (traded in his old one). The jewelry deals are great here, you won't find them listed on the cruise ship listing as the don't want to pay the fee, but go inside and you'll find longtime customers like us that come back time and time again. Again our 3rd trip to this island. This time we took a open taxi truck to The Mountain Top which overlooks Magen's bay. Wow breath taking views. Definitely worth the cost of the ride up. Had a strawberry daiquiri... very good!!! They are famous for their banana daiquiris!!!
