Three times here is enough. Just beaches and tourist tutt shops, but very nice people.

Falmouth

A nice little town with a flea market and some pretty little buildings being renovated. The cruise port has just been built by Royal Caribbean and there is plenty there for duty-free shoppers. You must have a Jamaican patty before going back on board-apart from anything else they are hot!

Fort Lauderdale

Great beaches, just take a taxi and ask your driver for the nearest one. They are all good with amenities or simply walk out of the cruise port to the shopping mall for coffee shopping, hairdressers, bookshops etc. The canal runs behind the mall with beautiful yachts to see.

Grand Cayman

Our favourite place to be. There is duty free by the port, then turn left and walk to the beginning of 7 mile beach. There are holiday flats but you can use the beach and swim in the sea whilst keeping an eye on your ship!. No need to take an excursion to the beach as it is so near. Along that road there is an Irish bar with pints of Murphys and English football on TV. A real gem of a stop.

Nassau

UGG! Avoid. A tourist trap. There is one long line to get out of the terminal through dreadful shops, there is no other way out and it seemed pretty dangerous in an emergency. Once you get past this, there is a pretty colonial town to walk. We downloaded a tour at home and followed that. It was cold and wet, but it gave us something to do. There is a hilltop fort with great views for those that can manage 100 steps. Severalpretty old churches and government buidings, but I guess once you have done it there is no need to return, unless, unlike us, you want to shop.

A lovely port side beach with shops. You can walk the bridge to the beach island (2 mins) or take chairlift! Several jetties to jump off into the sea and a great drinking/dining bar, which is under cover (needed for the rain)

St. Martin

Yea, love coming back here,it's great. A little water taxi takes you from the jetty to the town and here you find duty free in abundace, local t-shits, caps etc, lovely people and a great atmosphere. You can take a ten minute bus ride to the french side with a market and go up the tower for a great panoramic view over the island, or stay on the beach and have 5 beers, 2 loungers and an umbrella for $20. A really lovely, relaxing day, well worth it.

San Juan

Wonderful. Our third visit and we still havet seen it all. Again we downloaded a walking tour at home and are still working our way through it. This year we had lunch at IL COnvento, as the name suggests it was once a convent and is now the oldest hotel in old San juan. We asked the waitress to bring us two local dishes and we were not disappointed. Cost with 4 large beers, 2 starters and 2 mains was $80. When you consider that the 4 large beers would have been $30 on board with tips it was a bargain. We ate in an outside courtyard with large fans keeping us cool. A lovely experience. The town has two forts overlooking the sea and government buildins with marble staircases you can wander round. If you like history then this is the place for you.
