Beautiful scenery. Lots of shopping if that's what you want to do. We stopped into a local place Jen's for a beer and a bite. Friendly American owners there. Then we took a tour in an open van. Too much driving for so little to see. Went to the "mountain top". The view is beautiful. Shopping just a bunch of made in Asia junk.
We knew in advance we would find our way to Maho beach to see the planes land. It was laugh out loud funny. I would do this again. The Sunset Bar there is not bad though a little expensive for drinks. Had a delicious pizza there.
St Maarten is another easy port. You can just take a water taxi to shop on the Dutch side in downtown Phillipsburg with lots of shops and restaurants.
