A vacant area of Haiti with a nice beach and several extra-cost items installed by the cruise lines, including a roller-coaster and a long zip line. Not much here except for the beach and a few mosquitos, but it is a pleasant stop.
This port has been rebuilt from a commercial port designed to ship sugar cane from Jamaica. It is my understanding that two cruise lines bought the port and use it now. There is a small shopping village built specifically to service the cruise ships, and an area for tour buses to take passengers to ships tours and private tours. There is not much to the area - certainly not the place to find bargains, as it is a port built solely for the cruise ships. However we found the tour operators to be very nice and helpful - showing us a new face of Jamaica without some of the pushy sales people, pickpockets and drug dealers that we found at Ocho Rios and even Montego Bay.
There is nothing to do there except shop in the very controlled shopping area or board the buses for the tours...
