Roatan - We booked private tour thru Victor Bodden Tours and asked for Marty Wood as driver/guide and was not disappointed. He took us to a local supermarket to buy cheap local beer for our day. Then off-roading on beautiful Sandy Bay beach. But West Bay beach was the most gorgeous -- clear blue water. However, it was sooo crowded and the locals constantly pester you to buy massage, hair braiding, tours, sunglasses, trinkets,etc...which really took away from the amazing beach. We were so bothered that we went to West End for lunch and spent rest of afternoon snorkeling there. Marty took us to Half Moon Resort where the restaurant overlooked the water -- the food was good -- if only they could get their act together with their service this would be a great dining spot. Then we used the free beach chairs and went snorkeling -- saw tons of fish, lobster, water snake, brain coral, fan coral, really vibrant reef. Marty informed that he also has his own tour company - Roatan Guided Tours dot com - and his wife owns a catering service and provides lobster meals for 2 at a great price. Wish we had known that for this visit.

Belize - We took the RC Lamanai tour and although the ruins were interesting (not as impressive as Chichen Itza, Mexico), we would not recommend this tour. It is very rushed. The bus takes 1hr to Orange Walk, where you switch to a boat that speeds its way to Lamanai and takes another full hr. You don't really see much wildlife since the boat noise/speed scares them all away. Lamanai is interesting but we were rushed thru the ruins and did not see all the buildings. Beware that if you have walking issues you should not go on this tour because the paths are all rocky and very uneven. Sturdy footwear a must. Also, take mosquito repellent. Our friends took RC tours to island beaches and had a better time.

Cozumel - We were clouded/rained out. My husband took RC tour (America's Cup Regatta) and because of the high winds, found it to be the best excursion he has ever been on. The crew kept everyone safe. I went to Playa UVAS and found their guacamole to be very good and drinks with generous alcohol. The port shopping has really cheap liquor (cheaper than airport). At this port, you go thru security before you get on the ship and lineups are lengthy so add that to your time needed to meet the all aboard deadline
