Took a very nice 2-hour open-air taxi ("safari" style) and very much enjoyed the views from on high. The island has definite pockets of poverty. The "downtown" upon arrival isn't much, save for the cute (and brand-new) pastel colored sales shacks.
Again enjoyed an open air taxi around the island, with a very informative brief multi-media history presentation in Nelson park and fun wandering around the Nelson dockyard.
We walked around Barbados, including the 20 minute walk from boat docking to town, an easy and fun walk. The city is larger than the other stops and "okay" if not exciting.
We took a 2-hour taxi ride around the island with another couple. Of all the island tours, this was by far the most disappointing because the driver stopped multiple times at tourist traps. There was always something for sale. The experience left a bitter taste, especially given that we were particularly interested in seeing St. Lucia.
We loved St. Barth's! The port is totally charming and a great walk. We wandered onto shell beach which we later learned was man-made! Our one-hour taxi tour was fabulous, with a driver who claimed to be 12th-generation St. Barth's. He was very informative and funny and we loved the gorgeous views both out toward the sea and in toward the lovely housing. A real treat.
