Barcelona is a wonderful city with much to see and experience. You MUST go see the Gaudi cathedral - la Sagrada Familia. It is truly astonishing. Shopping in the Barria Gottic and along Las Ramblas is awesome and a lot of fun. Check out the well made and inexpensive leather goods in particular. Stop and try Tapas in one of the many bars and restaurants before returning to your ship.
An excellent trip to a greek island. The main city is Heraklion and the main attraction is the stunning Minoan palace ruins. There is much to explore here. Save time to wander through Heraklion though - great shops and great food with interesting sights scattered around the city that are leftovers from the many occupations over centuries by different empires. Lots of history here and no crowds.
The colossi are awesome but we were only given a 2 minute photo stop. THey deserve more!
Karnak Temple Rating:
This temple is amazing and deserves more time. We were not allowed enough time to fully appreciate what we were seeing. (1 1/2 hours) Would strongly recommend people see this site - but do it from a Nile Cruise not from Safaga
Valley of the Kings Rating:
The sights WERE amazing but the tour was not. The tour guide was awful. We were not allowed cameras at all in the Valley of the Kings - inside the tombs or out. The drive from Safaga to Luxor is too long - 4 and a half hours one way - and time at the valley too short (less than 1 1/2 hours). The sights are worth seeing but it should ideally be done from a Nile Cruise, not from Safaga.
