It is an extremely poor island and the people are very pushy around the port. Be careful which tour you take from the ship. One couple had booked one before the cruise and it ended up to be first transportation to a time share presentation and then to the house of a wealthy individual who lived on the highest point on the island. Guess he tried to sell them some liquor before they left and they returned to the ship. The straw market just outside the gate has some tremendous wood carvings but make sure you know what to look for before you buy anything wood in the Caribbean.
