Stayed at the Budapest Marriott which was perfectly located in Buda for walking or talking the tram. Our hotel room had a gorgeous view over the river to the palace. We did a half day walking tour of the opera house, the cathedral, Heroes' Square, and many other places. We visited two Christmas markets, both within easy reach of our hotel. On another day we had a bus tour of the Pest side of the city. We crossed the Chain Bridge and saw the magnificent Parliament while hearing about the history of the Hungarian revolution.
This delightful German town was one of my favorite along the Danube. The ship docked right in the middle of town making it easy to walk along the cobblestone streets to the delightful shops. We enjoyed lattes and tortes while visiting a wonderful bakery with a family history of gingerbread-making that dates back 400 years! The Christmas market in Passau was small, but the shops were bustling.
