Budapest
Port Rating:
Budapest was the most "foreign" of the places we stopped, and we enjoyed it a lot. It was very hot on the day we were there, which caused one of our planned excursions (a horse show) to be canceled. That was a slight disappointment, but better for the horses, I'm sure! We loved walking to the City Market and getting a real sense of the smells and tastes of Budapest! The historical tour was very interesting. Our other ports are not listed--we stopped in Bratislava, Vienna, Melk, Durnstein, Linz (with a side trip to Salzburg), and Passau. Vienna was absolutely beautiful, and there was too much to see in a day--we want to go back! The monastery in Melk was incredible, and the cruise up the Danube to Durnstein was extremely pretty. The trip to Salzburg involved a fairly long bus ride, but it was a lovely town and we really enjoyed seeing it. Lots of good music, food, and art everywhere we went!
