Took a walk through Old San Juan (go left when you get off ship) and it was very nice. Walk by the wall that surround the city and the "red door" that was once the entrance to the city. Other than this, typical port with lots of shopping, which does not interest us.
Very pretty port. Took a cab to Orient Beach. Water was rough but we had a great time on the beach and in the water. Rented chairs for $5 each at a restaurant called 'Ethnic'. The guy was very friendly - chairs comfortable and we got a drink for $2. You can take a walk down the beach to the clothing optional section. Beyond that there is a 'clothing not optional' section meaning you have to be nude!!!
Weather not great when we were here (rainy and overcast) so our plans to go to the beach were replaced with a trip in to town. Typical Caribbean port town with lots of Diamonds International stores. Not our thing. Found a cute cobble stoned side street with an outside bar so sat and had a few cocktails (sorry, can't remember the name of it). People were very friendly.
