Because this was our fifth time in St. Thomas we decided to skip the shore excursions and just shop. We took the $4. taxi to downtown to shop for linens (Mr. Tablecloth), Disney T-shirts (Del Sol) and amazing bamboo/cotton clothing (Cariloha). $4. taxi ride back to the ship was easy. In the afternoon we walked the short distance to Havensight Mall (where we had docked) for a bit more shopping.
We love everything about San Juan. We took an excursion to the Bacardi Rum Factory enjoying a lovely half hour ride to the factory. Later we enjoyed downtown San Juan because our ship docked a few minutes walk from the fort, Christopher Columbus square and the shops and restaurants. A meal at the Parrot Club let us taste black bean croquettes, shrimp and crab with rice, black beans and rice as well as a marvelous guava flan. Beautiful day in Puerto Rico.
Disney's private island is an outdoor paradise complete with included as well as booked excursions. The ship docks right at the island's edge so you can walk the entire island or ride the tram from place to place. Even in mid-January with a hazy day it was a wonderful stop.
