Cabo San Lucas
Port Rating:
Awesome! We visited a local resort (sorry I don't remember the name) on the first day, for lunch and drinks, it had excellent food, swimming pools and hot tubs and beach. My husband and daughter also went on a shore excursion that day, "Helmet Diving", which they loved. Whale watching trip the next day was awesome too, we saw numerous humpbacks and also the first grey whales of the season! The boat took us past the famous "Los Arcos" rocks as well. What a beautiful harbor!
The cruise ships have to anchor out in the harbor because it is too shallow and crowded close in. You get into the port via small transfer boats called "tenders". For most of the smaller ones, you do have to go down a flight of steps from the ship, but if you can do that, the staff are very helpful and careful getting you on to the boat if you have mobility issues like I do. If you are in a wheelchair and cannot get out to walk, there is one larger tender that can be boarded by ramp and is more accessible
There are many shore excursions we didn't have time to try, such as swimming with dolphins, fishing, visiting glass blowing shops and the old church, salsa dancing, etc. They all sounded fun.
Shopping near the harbor is mostly cheap souvenir shops, but the vendor at the resort we went to had beautiful necklaces and painted items such as bowls, spoons etc. I imagine if you get transportation you can go further into town and find more good shops.
We loved Cabo and would definitely go back!
