WE had a debark tour in Buenos Aires through Princess. The city tour was great followed by a wonderful lunch in a downtown restaurant with a 1 1/2 hour Tango show. The show was well performed...but a bit long. An hour show would have been enough. We were then taken to the airport.
The weather was awful the day we were there...raining and VERY windy. It was a tender port and the ramp from the tender up to the terminal was very steep. It was metal with NO traction mats or tape. I fell as I got to the top...luckily I wasn't seriously injured...but I COULD have been. The purser's office of the ship showed little concern over this and said they had no authority of the port's choice of ramp or equipment. Because of the weather our sights were not the best. There were almost hurricane force winds at the falls......the huge lake would have been a beautiful sight in the sun but was gray and uninviting. We DID have a marvelous meal at a lovely hotel on the lake and enjoyed about an hour of free time for shopping etc. In good weather this would be an outstanding port.
WE enjoyed the Macaw sanctuary despite the extreme heat and humidity....which is normal for there. The Mangrove river cruise was just so so. We have been on other river cruises in Costa Rica that were much better and saw a lot more wildlife than this one. Our guide was very proud of her country...very knowledgeable and spoke very good English. WAY too much $$$$$ for what was offered.
Stanley was another tender port on a windy, COLD and rainy day....miserable !
We didn't take a tour. WE walked down to the Christ Cathedral for awhile and did a bit of shopping. It was a stark, bleak place with absolutely NO appeal whatsoever!
It was heavily overcast all day in Ushuaia but that didn't deter us from the awesome beauty of the majestic snow covered mountains surrounding the city. We took a tour out to the "end of the earth"....in Tierra del Fuego National Park which was heavily forested...beautiful. Would LOVE to see this place in the sun....it must be absolutely stunning !
The port of Valpariso was a very busy place. We took a city tour which took us to several different parts of the city. We saw lovely sights in Miraflores.
