A nightmare to get off the ship. The way Carnival makes everyone sit in a large room waiting for your number to be called for over an hour is ridiculous. Not to mention you don't even know how it works unless you carefully read through the bulletin the night before. We arranged our own excursion and almost missed it as it took 1 1/2 hours to get off the ship. Way to long when there is such a limited time onshore as is. We booked an ATV excursion and cave tubing through Cave-tubing.com. Would highly recommend!
Run as far and fast as you can from the Carnival created "Mahogany Bay" resort unless you have no sense of adventure. Time in this port is way to short, back on the ship by 2:30?! We rented a taxi for a day from a great local guide we read about in another review - Marty Wood (marty wood ) It was very reasonable and he drove us where we wanted to go around the Island and provided some great local knowledge. For zip lining would recommend the Extreme zip line adventure at Pirates of the Caribbean. Sundowners is a great bar on the west end with places to snorkel and free wi-fi.
One of the reasons we enjoyed this port is you actually got to stay until 5:30, unlike the other ports where there was a mid-afternoon departure. Booked our own excursion again - Pampered Ponies. Lori, the owner picks you up right near the dock and drives you out to her ranch where you ride along the beach and then bareback into the ocean. Our group of two was joined by another party of 2 for a total of four with two guides. Much better than the group of 15-20 we passed on the cruise ship excursion - and I'm sure they paid a lot more!
