Cockleshell Beach is beautiful. One can never get tired of the view coming down the mountain with the Atlanta and Caribbean oceans flanking the sides of the center ridge. We just wish we had more time at the beach. since it takes about 45 minutes to get there, we felt that most of the tour time was in riding.
Orient Bay is one of our favorite beaches. We had taken the afternoon beach break excursion and again, most of the time is taken up by waiting for the others to come to board the bus, the ride there and the ride back. We were hoping for more beach time.
This was our favorite port. We have been to SJ many times but have never gone to the rain forest. What a piece of paradise we missed. We took the Rain Forest Drive excursion. The bus driver knew his island and gave us a detailed tour on the way to the park. Once at the park, we were able to visit the visitor's center, take a hike in the rain forest and stop at the tower. What beautiful scenery! This is a must for anyone going to SJ.
We have visited this part of Haiti many times with RC. The beaches are kept clean and the chairs are plentiful. We prefer the calmer side of the island and opted to walk to Barefoot beach.
