Didn't spend very long in Aruba. Some folks took abbreviated land excursions. We didn't. Walked in town and hit a casino nearby. Your normal range of gift and liquor stores, jewelry, etc. Perhaps if they spent more time there we would have gone on a shore excursion and seen more of the island.
Interesting bus and carriage tour of the old walled city. Enjoyed it overall. A bit too much waiting around once we got off the carriages and were supposed to get about 1/2 hour to look around but that didn't happen.
Long bus trip to Panama City side of Panama. Stopped and saw the Miraflores Locks, saw a movie on the construction of the locks, took photos. Got back on bus for trip to Old Panama city passing through some of the worst areas of Panama City you can imagine. Even the tour guide who was from Panama said he wouldn't walk in the area...he called it the red zone. Old Panama City was like a bombed out area of Germany after WW2 but they are doing reconstruction. Was similar to Cartagena but in total disrepair. Would go on Embera Indian tour Gatun Lock tour if we did this again. The city of Colon where the cruise port is sucked. A real sewer of a place with garbage all over the streets.
Cheapest tour we could do that involved little walking. Dolphin show was only a few minutes but well done. Of course a souvenir shop was part of this as well. Went a short distance to the "rum cake" factory which wasn't a factory at all but a retail store that sold Tortuga rum, liquor and rum cakes and gave samples of rum liquor (sweeter than rum itself) and two different rum cakes. Then the trip continued by van to Hell. Nothing with nothing. Some black rock formations that looked volcanic, some crude devil signs and a gift shop (what else) and Hell post office so you can mail a post card from Hell. Should have gone to the beach or taken the submarine tour which I heard was super but much more costly. Must miss this tour if you go to Grand Cayman. The island is clean as a whistle like Bermuda.
Hell Rating:
Nothing with nothing. Looked like a cheap amusement park with old wooden signs.
Rum Cake Factory Rating:
Part of the Hell tour but wasn't a factory at all. Just a retail store for their rum products and cakes.
