LifeisaWOW's Port Reviews of Cartagena (Colombia), Colon (Cristobal), Puntarenas (Puerto Caldera), Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, San Diego Celebrity Century cruise in December 2012
Took a taxi into town. Charming city with a lot of character. Taxi for 4 of us was $20.00. Coming back to ship $15.00. Whatever! Also, took a. Catamaran tour from the dock near the ship. Not very good unless you make the decision not to go into town. It's a very abbreviated tour of the shoreline BUT better than nothing.
It would be VERY difficult to walk into town. Narrow streets with broken concrete and crazy traffic.
Nothing has changed there. Taxis drivers all over you the minute you leave the ship. We walked about a mile or so down to a hotel we had stayed at some years ago.
Very difficult for scooter or wheelchair with high curbs, broken sidewalks etc. Should have taken a taxi to "Old Town" instead.
Tendered to the dock. The improvements are quite impressive since we were last there about 8 years ago.
Quite clean and friendly. We went to our favorite, as everyone else's, the "Giggling Marlin." We were greeted by and chatted with the owner. Great chips, salsa & Margaritas made tableside.
Unfortunately time to disembark. Met friends in SD for a few days. Did the Hop on Hop off Trolly, Sea Port Village, USS Midway. There is a lot to do if you don't need to get right back home.
