As we have visited Brisbane befoire we decided to stay on the ship. Luckily there were so many things to do as the view from the ship was of carparks , the odd fisherman or container ships. in the distance you could see the city but only just.
Tendering 15 minutes ride from the dock meant a bit of time lost travelling into port then there was the $20 per person to use the shuttle bus for the 20 minute ride into the city centre that added some salt to the wound. Being Boxing day it was very busy and so this made the day less enjoyable however we can now say we have been to cairns.
Entering the port was terrific, with the locals giving us a great welcome. The shuttle bus ride into the town(required as Newcastle is a working Port) was hassle free and cost free. A nice town to visit and one RCCL should keep as part of their itinery for this part of the world.
