Cozumel
Mayan Ruins Rating:
The Catamaran from Cozumel had no outside deck and many inside became seasick really quickly. The interior smelled of sick within 5 minutes of leaving cozumel. There was a walk of about 1km to the bus, and our elderly parents struggled with this aspect as it was very hot. The air conditioning on the coach only worked slightly and only on the left hand side, so those on the right had no air, warm or cool.
The P.A. system on the coach was poor so that the intro to Tulum was inaudible. The radios for use in the ruins themselves did not work on the correct channel and had to be left behind.
Again the ruins were very crowded with holiday visitors and it was hard to hear the tour guide who had a monotone type of delivery. We received an email from RC telling us that we could only take a camera and bottle of water into the ruins, so we left our bags on the coach as instructed. My daughter came back to find her wallet had vanished. She had taken her money and credit cards out, but her student card, drivers licence, and other loyalty cards were in the wallet. The tour company DID not want us to report the missing item to the police, and for insurance purposes this was something we HAD to do. It took a great deal of determination to get them to direct us to a tourist police post, and used up all our free time before catching the vomit-comet back to the ship.
We have had better tours
