It was cold, rainy and flooding but get off the ship and go into Venice. The history and the beauty of this port cannot be seen anywhere else. There is only one Venice, Italy. We love it there. People are friendly and English is spoken everywhere.
We choose not to go to Rome because we have been several times, but please take the excursion to Rome. Any one of them will be fabulous but make sure you get to walk into the Colosseum. Again, people are friendly and English is spoken everywhere.
We love Barcelona. The people are wonderful, the architecture is breath taking and the food is amazing. Walk up the Las Ramblas. It is such fun and our favorite restaurant the Attic is there about midway up, on the second floor of a building. Food is spectacular.
We were dropped off and on our own for an hour and 1/2.
Sintra Walking Tour Rating:
Beautiful country. Took a bus to Sintra first and had some lunch and some shopping. This quaint town is in the mountains. Then they brought us down the coast where we saw the western most tip of Europe that goes across to Henlopen Point in Delaware. Since I am from there, that was cool. Then we went to Cascais. What an exquisite harbor town that is. We would like to go back for a week and stay there. People were great, food awesome, everyone spoke English.
