This is a beach destination as well as Margaritaville and pool. Some shops are here - nothing exciting for us - the shallow water is very rocky and slippery-wear water shoes here.
Lots of history here and some beautiful beaches. The Old Town is charming, in our opinion, for shopping and just walking - be aware that it is hilly, the streets are brick or cobblestone, and the sidewalks are narrow.
Favorite port in the Caribbean-lots to do here - lots to see. Be sure to check out the French side in the AM - leaving time to shop in Phillipsburg on the Dutch side after lunch. Less crowded that way. The beaches are beautiful on both sides and the shopping can't be beat in Phillipsburg-better than St. Thomas any day - easy to navigate, and the beach and boardwalk in Phillipsburg is so nice as is the port. Easy walk into town or take the water taxi. $1.00 beer in town. The French side is more expensive for shopping and eating - the beaches are lovely. Be aware that there are clothing-optional beaches on the French side if you have children with you. Lots of fun here!
