Beautiful warf area. Easily within walking distance of "The Rocks" area. Our ship embarked from Sydney, so didn't have much time there. If possible, spend at least a day there in advance.
Ship docked far from town at Industrial port because of ship size. Eight passengers took maxi-taxi to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Unforgetable experience; super. Expansive area to mingle with the Kangaroo, Wallabies, and Emu. Almost all types of Australian fauna, and of course experience up-close and personal the adorable Koala. Also took a taxi to Mt. Kooth-tha lookout for a panoramic view of the city and area.
Green Island glass-bottom boat and submarine excursion. Not worth the money. Very disappointing with poor visibility in both vessels. Plexiglass was somewhat cloudy and scratched. Needs replacing badly.
Used local hop-on, hop-off bus. End of season run and obvious they felt they should be through for the season. Extremely hot weather in early December, so be prepared. Certainly an interesting area to visit, but one day is enough, and don't plan to swim in the ocean locally because of the crocodiles; they are in all water areas and very dangerous.
Museum & Art Gallery Rating:
took local hop-on, hop-off transportation to both museums. Plan to have a full day to explore both, as they have interesting, but different, information. They are several miles apart, so plan accordingly.
Botanic Gardens were magnificent, especially the orchid exhibit, which does charge admission.
City Tour Rating: Not Rated
Got an over-all tour of the city from the bus.
Orchard Road Rating:
A beautiful, and clean city with many different areas to visit. A local hop-on/hop-off bus makes over-view of all of the city possible in one day, but not enough time to spend very long in one place. You need at least two or three days to have more time for the individual areas. If you want in-expensive souvenirs, china town in the place to go. Bus takes you down Orchard Rd. and you can get off to shop.
