There's a Walmart across the street from the cruise ship terminal and a really nice shopping center next to the Walmart. In the shopping center is a starbucks with free wi fi.
Coffee plantation excursion was great. Very friendly and informative guides at plantation and on bus. Learned a lot about coffee and Costa Rica. Also went to craft area and saw water wheel powering workshop. Good local food included with tour. Comfortable bus and good roads.
The town of Puntarenas enjoyable for walking around. Nice beach area. Would like to go back to Costa Rica on another vacation. Great country and friendly people. Felt very safe and comfortable in Costa Rica
Ship docks at industrial area. There are few shops around the dock. Probably not a good idea to wander around this neighborhood. Considered an excursion but they didn't seem that interesting. The train was appealing but expensive so we didn't do it.
Nice bus and enjoyable ride to botanical garden which is at a higher elevation away from the city. Fascinating guided tour of garden. Definitely a great tour if you like plants and nature. Also stopped at the fort and went back a different route. We got to see a lot of Columbia. Guide friendly and helpful.
