This was my first time in Half Moon Cay - hopefully it will not be my last! The island is beautiful. Water was so clear and calm. Plenty of seating. Lots of room to spread out. The jerk chicken and rice at the lunch were quite tasty. Could visit this place twice on the same trip and be happy!
We are not huge fans of Nassau. We have previously visited Atlantis and done a walking tour through town. On this visit, we left the ship around 12:30pm after a late breakfast and waiting for the rain to clear up. We walked past Senor Frogs, past the Hilton, past Junkanoo Beach to the Fish Fry to check it out, then up the hill to Fort Charlotte. It was nice to get a little exercise. We decided not to pay the $5.00/pp entry fee into the fort, but the view from right outside the entrance gate was worth a million bucks! Just beautiful! We stopped at Senor Frogs on the way back, but it was so crowded and loud (with 5 ships total in port) we just decided to return to the ship instead.
We got off the ship around 10:30am - took a taxi to Port Lucaya. We had our $5.00/pp in hand (with tip), but found out when we got out of the taxi that you actually pay $10/pp at that time and they give you a voucher for the return trip. We walked around the shops, went into the casino, and then went to the free public beach. The beach here is a little odd - there are big outcrops of rocks every so often, so the beach is a little broken up. It was very pretty, however. Water was too cold to get in. We didn't stay too long before returning to our ship.
