We have been to PV several times and only took a walk around the port this trip.
Our next stop was Huatulco, which we loved. The ship docks right off the small town. We walked along the beach to a Mexican restaurant with tables and chairs right on the beach. We left all our belongings (yes, even passports and money) in a backpack at the table with the waiter keeping an eye on our things. We brought our own snorkeling gear so we walked down the beach a little further and enjoyed snorkeling in the clear water. Saw quite a few fish including a very large school of clown fish. We drank beer and ate great Mexican food at our beach side table and took breaks to swim in the warm water. It was a great day in a great port.
This was our second time in Costa Rica so we just took a walk to a small church that was visible from the ship, which was docked a Puerto Caldera. The church was beautiful. Leaving the church we saw folk dancers performing. We shopped our way back to the ship. Nice quiet town. The only drawback was that we were only one level below the buffet so even the use of the stairs did not prevent us from gaining five pounds each.
