We took a bus tour with Princess. A 1.5 hour drive to the crater and only spent 30 minutes at the summit. We spent 1.5 hours at a restaurant and more time at a restroom. Again, taking a bus tour was a mistake.
We went to the Valley of the Temples and to the North Shore. The Bonzi Pipeline and Sunset Beach was amazing with 40 foot waves and people surfing. We ate lunch at a "shrimp shack" that was wonderful!
By far the most scenic island of French Polynesia. Extremely nice people, scenic views and the water is amazing. There is no comparison in the Caribbean or Hawaii.
We took an off road adventure into the mountains/rain forest. We saw at least 11 waterfalls and went swimming in one. The natural beauty is amazing. The people are extremely friendly and almost everyone speaks English (since we don't speak French!)
Wonderful port of call. Extremely friendly people. There was a lot of poverty on the island however the people were extremely nice and pleasant. Beautiful island
