Key West is pretty easy to get around. In addition, there are tours that you can hop on as you wander the island. It has a lot of history. We walked to the Southernmost beach, but it was chilly on this day. There is what is supposed to be a very nice beach at the Fort Zachary State Park. We had planned to walk there to snorkel, but since it was so cold, skipped it. It only cost a couple of dollars per person, and would be well worth it on a warmer day. I think it's about 20 minutes from the ship. Our kids just had fun walking around getting photos with all of the strange statues. They noticed the "hobos" as they call them, which is a sad part of Key West. There is a decent sized homeless population, and there are very seedy areas of Key West. In addition, certain areas smell bad. We have been to Key West several times, and probably will not head back there again. However, it is a must visit locale for anyone.

We've been to Chankanaab a couple of times in Cozumel, so we tried something else this time. Chankanaab was nice, as I recall, and they have specific entry fees on the website, so check it out. There are taxi areas just as you exit the pier, with prices clearly listed. Be sure to really research where you are going before you go. The people are not very clear about what you pay at the locations. Some places expect you to pay a lot, while others are more low pressure. We wound up at Senor Sanchos in Cozumel, which does not charge you to enter. The snorkeling was very good here and it was a safe and quiet setting and very inexpensive. The sales people around Cozumel seem a bit desperate. I think that the down economy everywhere else is probably affecting this area, too. Cozumel is a good place to visit, if you've not been there before.
