Malta
Port Rating:
Valletta WOW! The Hop on Hop off buses are waiting at the port of Valletta. Two companies, both with similar tour routes, both charging 10 Euro for the day.
We did the "short route" first (approx 90 minutes) and then got off in the old town of Valletta and walked around seeing the sights for about 2 hours.
See the Trip-Advisor site for the don't miss places. It was our second visit to Malta, but we still could not fit in all we wanted to see. Don't miss the Shipwreck Church - similar to St John's Co Cathedral, but not as much gold!
The information centre will supply a good map, free ladies toilets turn left after leaving info centre.
We shared a "Maltese platter" (it was plenty for the two of us)at a busy outdoor restaurant in St John's Square and had a liter of local red wine (only 70c more than 1/2lt!) and the bill was around E18.00.
Then we got the Hop on Hop off bus and did the longer route which showed us the beach area on the western side and the seaside touristy area (designed mainly for the British)and then back to the ship. This tour was almost 3 hours. Be warned the top deck is very windy and exposed once you are out in the countryside.
My husband thought the Duty Free was well priced and bought 4 bottles of liqueurs.
