With the high wind and seas, our excursion was cancelled. So, we had to do what girls do best, shop and drink. Met up with some other cruisers in town and enjoyed the local food and beverages. You can never go wrong at Carlos and Charlies along with Senior Frog. The locals where extremely nice in every shop and the weather stayed sunny and breezy.
Many of the port excursion had been cancelled due to the high winds and seas. Local tours were still on. We were told by many of the locals in the shopping area not to leave the gated area. Others who worked on the ship and passengers who had been to this port prior also stated that if we were not on a tour through the ship, not to explore on our own. We found some good deals and headed back to the ship early. The tender had some trouble and we had to wait quite a while to get off the ship.
Nice little beach, clean and the landscaping tropical. We had a nice day on the beach sun bathing. This was a relaxing day off the boat without having to take a tour or take a drive to get to a beach.
Our boat was able to get into port (other side of the island) away from George Town. We took a tender to a small dock (waited in many lines to get off the ship (1 hr)as the seas were still high and very windy. The sun was out which made the weather enjoyable. When we took a taxi to George Town, the waves were crashing 4 to 6 feet and splashing up against the sea wall. Wind gusts were strong and all water excursions were cancelled. We were just happy that our ship was able to come in. We were the first ship to come to the island in three days. Many were getting great deals on jewelry.
