St. Maarten
Port Rating:
Philipsburg itself is great fun, and personally, more appealing than Marigot. Next time on St. Maarten/St. Martin, we will forego Marigot - except then we would miss Sarafina's for pastry in Marigot, so, maybe we will go! Marigot is lovely and charming, but Philipsburg also has high end designer shopping, which we were led to believe was only in Marigot.
We traveled throughout the island and found extensive poverty and litter. This was especially notable in Grand Case which prides itself as the "Culinary Capital of the Caribbean", so we were surprised.

St. Croix
Port Rating:
We very much enjoyed St. Croix as we found it far less developed than St. Maarten/St. Martin. It was much cleaner overall and far less industrialized.

St. Thomas
Snorkeling Rating: Not Rated
We booked the Caribbean Sail to Christmas & Honeymoon Coves, ST63; this is run by Cool Boats USVI. We loved it! Snorkeling, sailing, swimming, turtles, coral, tropical fish, and lots of "pain killers", their very own rum punch!
