Amber Room Rating: 4.0 out of 5+
Had to keep reminding myself that it *was* amber!

Catherine Palace Rating: 5+ out of 5+
Wonderful building, fascinating history (and the Scottish architect who designed the pavilion to one side of the palace) - grounds especially magical on a sunny autumn day.

City Tour Rating: 5.0 out of 5+
Fascinating way to encounter European Russia for the first time.

Hermitage Museum Rating: 5+ out of 5+
Wonderful art in a superb setting. Dragon-ladies in the cloakroom!

Peter & Paul Fortress Rating: 5.0 out of 5+
Very impressive. Lovely light inside the cathedral.

Peterhof Palace Rating: 4.0 out of 5+
Amazing gardens - look for the trick fountains to the left of the main buildings in a strange little water-garden.

Russian Ballet Show Rating: 4.0 out of 5+
Ballet was an interesting experience for a non-ballet-goer; I loved the young musicians playing in the foyer at the interval.
