Mahogany Bay is very pretty. Carnival has a lot of shopping in this port, including a Harley Davidson shop, pharmacy, and tons of souvenir shops. We did not check out their beach or do the flying chair but we heard it was very nice and relaxing. We hired a private driver from Bodden Tours and he was waiting there for us, after we exited the Carnival compound and headed up the steep hill. The tour operators must pick you up at the bottom of that hill. There is a $2 taxi that will take you there as well. Carnival tours meet in the Carnival area, with big signs.
We went ziplining at Mayan Jungle Canopy (LOVED it). Not scary at all and I was so afraid. We played with the monkeys and would not do it again, I dont think. We did get some photos and laughs but it is a little sketchy in those cages. Roatan has very poor areas and very beautiful beaches. We got to see both. Went to Tabyana Beach and we also ate conch fritters. The local beer isnt bad so you should try some. Salva Vida (Life Saver). We did no souvenir shopping, just picture taking.
We took a Carnival tour to Xunantunich Ruins and loved it. Its a long bus ride (there is a bathroom on the bus) and the bus is air conditioned. You get to see the poorness of Belize City, as well as the mountains as you go almost to the Guatemalan border. The ruins are amazing. I cannot say any more. I would schedule a Carnival excursion in this port, because the tender ride is more than 15 minutes long.
We headed to Mr Sanchos Cozumel Beach Club. We had reserved a hanging bed cabana, a massage, and two passes for the all you can drink and eat menu. Amazing location, beautiful water. We swam in the ocean for hours. There is plenty of shopping at the port, as well as at Mr Sanchos. It was a $15 cab ride for us to get there. That is for up to 4 people.
