Anchorage
Motorcoach Tour Rating:
HAL booked us on Tundra Wilderness Tour, and it was well work the 5-7 hrs. in a city bus type bus. Our tour guide was exceptional, knew the history, etc., because she lives right there in Denali, etc.....we didn't see too many animals, since it was raining, but no matter -- we saw plenty of wide open spaces, mountain ranges, with snow!! and had a tiny peek of Mt. McKinley....It was "sleeping" that day, as the tour guide said. Good Tour!
Dog Sledding Rating:
Husky Homestead THIS was our favorite -- YES, we held puppies!!! AND JEFF KING IS AWESOME....very informative, animated, and was very interesting to listen too, held our attention talking about the training, equipment, dogs, concerning the IDITAROD DOG SLED RACING, that is held each year, from Anchorage to Nome. He has won so many trophies, I cannot remember how many, and plans to enter 2013 races, as well. His place is not far from cruise port, 15 min. bus ride, out in the wilderness, where he lives, and has built an "auditorium" of sorts, where he welcomes the tours. He has helpers, that are friendly and helpful, and can answer questions plus demonstrates the training techniques they use on the dogs. HIGHLY Recommend this tour. If we could, (I) would have stayed longer!

Ketchikan
Port Rating:
Ketchikan is small village/town, and in my opinion, a cute/quaint little town, that I prefer over "skyscrapers". We walked around the town, went into the National Park Visitor's Center, then walked onto the Creek Street Historical District, to check out "Dolly's House" -- very interesting place, and a fun tour, of the little town's "Brothel", from years ago. The tour docents were 2 girls, in costume, that gave us detailed information on this famous 'house', in the 'red-light' district. It was fun day, even though, we encountered light rain. We also saw couple of seals eating on dead salmon, in the creek. Stores/shops were still open, and browsed through them, buying postcards, etc....Didn't go into the jewelry stores near pier, however. Wasn't in the market for expensive jewelry.
Ketchikan was a favorite port!

Mendenhall Glacier Rating:
Another awesome sight, for this Florida Girl and her hubby. We got about 20 minutes to roam around the visitors center, plus walk out near the "beach" part of the lake, took pictures, etc. Again, tour guide was well informed of the area. Enjoyed!

White Pass Scenic Railway Rating:
This was the high light for my husband, as he is a Rail Fan; Again, very organized and fun train ride, up to the Canadian Border, and back. Saw lots of mountain ranges, and tour guide knew the whole history of the area! A fun day, on this excursion, too.
