If you like critters, this the tour for you. You will be standing/walking slowly for about 45 minutes once off the bus transport. Occasionally there is a log to sit on while Steve talks. You can kiss a moose or just feed him a banana.
Wildlife Tour Rating:
We took a bear watch (privately booked, just 2 of us). We did see a brown bear near the river as well as salmon swimming upstream. Later our guide took us to see a bald eagle's nest (with all 3 in the nest).
Got this at the end of the pier after our whale watch tour never showed up. 14 passenger van so we went on streets the big buses couldn't. Would have liked more time at the glacier so we could walk to the waterfall, but driver said you would have to walk really fast to make it in 45 minutes. Used our Sr National Park pass to get into the Visitor's Center.
Culinary Tour Rating:
Had 2-4-1 coupon for this salmon bake. Had been to it 28 years earlier and remembered how tasty the salmon was. They still use the same sauce. If you don't like sweet, then you probably won't like this bake, but we really liked it. Slaw and beans were good, but the toasted marshmallows were better than the blueberry cake for desert. If this is your only chance to do a salmon bake, this is a good one. You are out in the woods but there is cover for seating.
Canceled at the last minute as we were the only two. This is the same company that provided the ship's tour.
City Tour Rating:
We showed up at a small store that booked a variety of tours. This was a city/nature tour. Turned out we were the only ones for the tour, but the owner (Rita) took us anyway instead of canceling. We enjoyed the personal tour and the information she provided.
Sea Cycles Rating:
For those who want to sea kayak but can't handle sitting with your legs straight out, this tour is for you. Amber & Vicky had just started this tour this year so went out of their way to pick us up on short notice when our schedule tour canceled. There were just the four of us on two sea cycles (similar to a paddle boat/water bike). During the two hours on the water we saw eagles, seals and a brown bear. Great exercise!
