We took a ship's tour here called "Falmouth on your own". Our bus was very uncomfortable with no leg room. Other buses on this tour were better. The tour basically provided transportation and we had the day to ourselves at Falmouth. Falmouth was a picturesque fishing village on the Cornwall Coast. It was a nice day and we enjoyed it. The town was a bit of a disappointment as it was pretty much a "tourist trap" with shops like all the "tourist trap" shops on the US coasts.
Reykjavik was my favorite stop. The geological features in Iceland are incredible. We had a wonderful tour with Iceland Horizon that took us around the Golden Circle with stops at Gullfoss waterfall, the Geyser basin, Thingvellir National Park, Kerio crater, and another waterfall. Our guide gave us wonderful background material and thoroughly enhanced the visit. Iceland is amazing and is not to be missed.
We rented a cab for two hours and he took us to Signal Hill, Quidi Vidi, the Battery and to various sites around St. Johns. The view from Signal Hill is magnificent. We thoroughly enjoyed this stop and were glad that we took a cab to the places that we wanted to see. The cab driver was a great tour guide and we had the flexibility to go wherever we wanted.
We made the mistake of taking a ships tour (New York Highlights and transfer to JFK airport). Our tour guide and driver were totally disorganized. We drove around and around with no discernible plan. If we could have gotten off and taken a cab to the airport, we would have. Painful!
