Stunning..but do NOT try to manoeuvre large cases thru Venice! Pre or post cruise stays...book a hotel near the cruise port. Lots of steps on those dinky looking bridges make it arduous with baggage. Best advice is to get transfers to or from ship if you do not plan to stay over.
Looking very rundown...lots of graffiti & closed shops. Hot, long queues for Acropolis. Good HOHO bus tour. DIY trip....get on at Piraeus, change buses at Acropolis.
Fantastic city...lots to see. Need more time than we had..so we need to return. Busy, so can get stick in traffic. We saw fantastic Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia & Topkapi Palace. Missed Cisterns,Spice Market & Grand Bazaar due to not enough time. Next visit will def go on Bosphorus Cruise...others said was great.
We didn't go to Ephesus as we've been before...but if you haven't been there, do go...it's awesome! Kusadasi as a resort is ok...just too much hassle from shopkeepers trying to sell casts/diamonds. Put us off even looking at anything.
Bar in marina very expensive! But beautiful sunset, so perhaps worth it.
Stunning! Needed more time there. Huge queues for cable cars! Only 2 ships in..must be dreadfu queuing in the heatl if there are more! We avoided that, & avoided the mules (pooh!) & took a boat straight to Oia. Office is just by the queues...(Dakoutros bros.) Once off the boat, their Minibus takes you from Ammoudi port up to Oia. What a beautiful place, we will return ...it was not long enough to get lunch there, just coffees...pity. Back on minibus, then boat back to Fira port. Some then braved the mules upto Fira town..we went back to the ship...nothing in the town of Fira could be better than Oia?
Pleasant place...mainly for Diocletians Palace & to see a 3000 yr old Sphinx without travelling to Egypt! Good to have a coffee on the steps of the Luxor Hotel, right in front of the palace, & imagine how many feet have trodden those steps over the years! Lovely sea views on the coast of Croatia...a very pleasant way to enjoy a glass of wine or two on our balcony!
