Interesting drive through a part of Ketchikan to get to the Saxman Native Village where we saw wonderful totem poles, an artist's studio where he was working on a huge one and we were treated to a Native Dance. Then we had time to explore some of the shops later on in the afternoon.
We had a brief tour on a drive up to White Pass Summit. The scenery in Alaska is second to none and we found, having travelled on various cruises, Alaska to be the most wonderful, scenic with fresh air and incomparable photo ops.
We just too a tender to shore and walked to a small town and enjoyed the fresh air and lovely scenery. Then we bought a few souvenirs in some stores near the port.
We took a brief city tour which ended at the Mendenhall Glacier. That was a spectacular sight and again, Alaskan scenery is just amazing and almost too beautiful for words. Our best cruise ever in terms of natural, rugged beauty.
