The experience at Newcastle was very good. The staff quickly unloaded our car and delivered our suitcases to our cabin.
The one downside is the car park. It is usually £12 per day, but this is reduced to £9 per day for Fred Olsen passengers. It seems very expensive at £108 for the 12 day cruise but the costs go to the port authority. A coach from Newcastle costs £30 return for each passenger so is not a lot cheaper.
We took the Norway in a Nutshell tour which lasted 9 hours. This was an incredible tour involving coach and two train journeys. We went through some incredible scenery, had a wonderful lunch at a spectacular hotel, went down the steepest road in Norway and travelled on the famous Fram railway, the steepest 'normal' trainline in Europe.
A very expensive day but well worth the money and not to be missed.
