Small place. The main attraction is the railway. Better to book a ship's tour and in good time as they were sold out by the time we boarded. Luck as to whether you'll get an independent ticket and some people missed out. We did the trip which went on by another train to Voss and back by coach. Was expensive but an excellent day out and I'm glad I didn't miss it.
Lovely city and easily done independently. We took free shuttle bus into town and walked round the fish market and Bryggen. Then went on the tourist train which gave us a good overview of the city.
