A hidden gem. Beautiful places just outside of town. We hiked the area where the tidal rapids are. Good trail and you see what this part of the world truly offers--beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife.
We took float plane to Taku Lodge. Excellent views of glaciers, fabulous salmon cookout. This trip had a $219pp surcharge; you can book it yourself for $290pp. This was a wonderful experience.
Secondly, cruising to Juneau we cruised Tracy Arm. Not to be missed scenery and wildlife. Regent offered one excursion that picked up at the ship early in AM. Small excursion boat took passengers rest of way up narrows to Juneau where they re-boarded. We regrettably were not aware of details of this excursion. It had a $149pp surcharge. But if we were better informed upfront, we would have taken it. Everyone who did take it raved about the wildlife sightings and scenery.
A hidden gem. Got out in the countryside for a hike to tidal rapids. Again, if you want to see what this part of the world has to offer, walking and sea trips are only way to go.
